Irish Methodists can take quiet satisfaction that their agricultural college, Gurteen, continues to train young farmers, provide ancillary courses, and this year begins a degree course in Agricultural Science and Sustainability in co-operation with the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

Gurteen is one of Ireland’s premier agricultural colleges and over the years has attracted students from all of the 26 counties. The 75th anniversary was celebrated at the North Tipperary college campus on Saturday 3 September.

On a pleasant, early autumn day, refreshed by recent rain, former students, staff, trustees, and governors together with representatives from national political life and farming organisations gathered on the lawn of Gurteen College.
