Puck’s Castle.
This walk takes us beyond the Pale!
The Pale, from the Latin word palus, meaning stake, was a heavily fortified English enclave around the city of Dublin that was surrounded by a fence.
Those inside the Pale saw those outside as lawless and uncivilised.
We are reminded of a verse in Hebrews that says, ‘And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make his people holy through his own blood.
Let us then, go to him outside the camp, baring the disgrace he bore’.
Rev Andrew Kingston continues his series of local walks in the Dublin area and you can read his latest piece in the October Newsletter.
