During the last weekend in July, Moira Methodist Church organised a series of events to celebrate its 200th birthday, and more importantly, thank God for his faithfulness and providence to generations of Methodists in the village.

The origins of Methodism in Moira can be traced back to 1756, when the Rev John Wesley visited the County Down village for the first time.

After the Rev Wesley was denied access to the Parish Church, Lord Rawdon of Moira Castle, arranged for his bellman to summon the people of the village, to hear the Rev Wesley speak outdoors.
