Tom Wilson writes……The Roman god, Janus, is often referred to at this time of the year.
He was the god of transitions, portrayed with two faces, one facing the past the other facing the future.
In his right hand he holds a key which symbolises protection of doors, gates, or thresholds.
The name of the month, January, is derived from his name, as the month is the gate into the New Year.
