March brought us a few lovely days of warm weather, but it was also the month when we witnessed a huge surge in the cost of home heating oil, petrol and diesel, electricity, gas and food. For some families the increase was barely noticeable, while others found they had to budget carefully. Some had to choose between heating or eating, a decision which should be unheard of in 2022.
While we fret about oil prices, the war continues in Ukraine and refugees begin the process of settling into new homes. In Romans 12: 13 we read, ‘Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.’ This perfectly and succinctly sums up the current world situation. God wants us to take those blessings we have received and share them with others, especially those less fortunate, in acts great or small.
In our May issue, you will read about people’s uncapped generosity in responding to the urgent needs of Ukrainian refugees, as well as their dedication towards local community initiatives.
